Approximate October 2026 per-watt rates for A-grade panels in Pakistan, prices by panel wattage, what makes one panel cost more, and how to compare solar panel quotes fairly.

Solar Panel Price in Pakistan: October 2026 Buyer Guide

If you are planning a rooftop system, the first number you probably look up is the solar panel price in Pakistan. It moves often, sometimes weekly, with the dollar rate, import stock and tax news. This guide explains how panel prices are quoted, what the approximate range looked like as of October 2026, what makes one panel cost more than another, and how to judge a quote without getting fixated on the cheapest per-watt rate. Use it as a starting point, then confirm today's rate with a supplier before you pay anything.

How the Solar Panel Price in Pakistan Is Quoted

Dealers in Pakistan almost always quote panels in rupees per watt rather than per panel. To get the price of a single panel, multiply the per-watt rate by the panel's rated wattage. A 585W panel at Rs 40 per watt works out to about Rs 23,400. A 620W panel at the same rate is about Rs 24,800.

This makes comparison easier, but it also hides some details. Two panels with the same per-watt rate can differ in technology, warranty, glass type and how well they perform in heat. A slightly higher rate for a better panel can be the cheaper choice over 25 years.

Approximate price range as of October 2026

Based on market rate reports published in early October 2026, A-grade N-type panels from well-known manufacturers were generally trading somewhere around Rs 38 to Rs 46 per watt, with premium bifacial and high-wattage models reaching roughly Rs 45 to Rs 50 per watt. Older P-type models have largely been phased out of dealer lists. These figures are approximate, vary by city and dealer, and can change within days, so treat them as a rough guide only.

For context on taxes: the 2026-27 Finance Act kept sales tax on solar panels at the reduced 10% rate that has applied since July 2025, according to budget coverage in June 2026. A proposed increase to 18% was not included in the final budget. Tax rules can change in any future budget, so check before buying.

What Makes One Panel Cost More Than Another

When you compare quotes, these are the factors that usually explain the difference.

Cell technology

Most panels sold in Pakistan today are N-type (TOPCon or similar), which generally handle heat better and degrade more slowly than older P-type panels. Some newer models use back-contact designs. If you want the detail, our blog has a separate article on why N-type panels are becoming the standard choice.

Bifacial vs monofacial

Bifacial panels can collect some reflected light from the back side. On an elevated structure over a light-coloured roof, this can add a little extra output. On a flat structure close to a dark roof, the benefit is smaller. Bifacial panels with double glass usually cost a bit more per watt.

Wattage and size

Higher-wattage panels (600W and above) mean fewer panels for the same system size, which can reduce structure and labour costs. They are also physically larger and heavier, so check your roof space and structure design before choosing.

Brand, grade and documentation

A-grade panels with proper import documentation and a traceable manufacturer warranty are worth paying for. Lower-priced stock may be B-grade, refurbished, or lacking valid warranty paperwork. You will often hear the phrase "Tier 1". It comes from a BloombergNEF list that ranks manufacturers by bankability, meaning whether banks have financed large projects using their modules. It is a useful sign that a manufacturer is large and established, but it is not a quality test of the specific panel you are buying, so always check the model, grade and warranty as well.

Panel Price vs Total System Cost

Approximate panel prices by wattage (October 2026)

The table below simply applies the approximate per-watt range above to common panel sizes. It is a guide for checking quotes, not a price list.

Panel sizeAt about Rs 38/WAt about Rs 42/WAt about Rs 46/W
585W~Rs 22,200~Rs 24,600~Rs 26,900
610W~Rs 23,200~Rs 25,600~Rs 28,100
620W~Rs 23,600~Rs 26,000~Rs 28,500
650W~Rs 24,700~Rs 27,300~Rs 29,900

How many panels for common system sizes

System sizePanels at 585WPanels at 620WApprox. panel cost only
5kW98 to 9~Rs 2 to 2.4 lakh
10kW17 to 1816 to 17~Rs 3.8 to 4.8 lakh
15kW2624 to 25~Rs 5.8 to 7 lakh
20kW34 to 3532 to 33~Rs 7.8 to 9.4 lakh

Panel counts are rounded and depend on the inverter's string design. The cost column covers panels only, not the rest of the system.

A common mistake is to multiply your system size by the panel rate and assume that is your budget. Panels are a big part of the cost, but a complete installation also includes:

  • An inverter (on-grid, hybrid or off-grid), which can cost as much as or more than the panels in smaller systems
  • A galvanised mounting structure designed for your roof and wind load
  • DC and AC cables of the correct size
  • Protection devices such as DC breakers, surge protection, isolators and earthing
  • Installation labour, transport and commissioning
  • Grid connection paperwork and a bidirectional meter if you want to export power
  • Batteries, if you choose a hybrid or off-grid system

Why Prices Change So Often

Almost all panels sold in Pakistan are imported, so local prices follow a few outside forces:

  • Exchange rate: a weaker rupee raises the landed cost of imported stock.
  • Global module prices: manufacturing oversupply has kept international prices low in recent years, but that can change.
  • Tax and budget news: even rumours of a tax increase have pushed local prices up before budgets.
  • Local stock levels: when a popular model runs short, dealers raise rates until new shipments arrive.

Trying to time the market perfectly rarely works. A better approach is to decide what system you need, get two or three itemised quotes in the same week, and compare like for like.

How to Compare Solar Panel Quotes

When a quote arrives, check these points before comparing totals:

  • Exact brand, model number and wattage of the panel
  • Panel grade (A-grade) and whether original warranty documents are provided
  • Product warranty and linear performance warranty terms from the manufacturer
  • Whether the quote is for panels only or a complete installed system
  • Delivery, unloading and transport costs
  • How long the quoted rate is valid

If a price is far below what everyone else is quoting, ask why. The answer is often grade, documentation or an old model.

Sizing Comes Before Price

The right number of panels depends on how many units you use, how much roof you have, and whether you want backup. Under the net billing rules that apply to new grid connections since February 2026, exported units are credited at a much lower rate than the units you buy from the grid, so oversizing a system just to export is less attractive than it used to be. Sizing the system to your own daytime use usually makes more sense now. You can get a quick estimate with our free solar calculator, which works from your LESCO bill. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the solar panel price in Pakistan per watt right now?

As of October 2026, market reports put A-grade N-type panels at roughly Rs 38 to Rs 46 per watt, with premium bifacial models higher. Rates change frequently, so confirm with a supplier on the day you buy.

Are cheaper panels worth it?

Sometimes, but only if they are genuine A-grade panels with valid warranty documents. Panels are a 25-year purchase, so a small saving upfront can cost more later if output drops faster or the warranty cannot be claimed.

Should I wait for prices to drop further?

Prices can go either way. Every month you wait is a month of full electricity bills, so for most people it makes more sense to buy when the system and the quote suit them.

Does MTS TRADERS supply panels only, without installation?

Yes. Along with complete installations, MTS TRADERS supplies solar panels, inverters and accessories. You can see the range on our products page.
