Approximate October 2026 costs for 5kW on-grid and hybrid systems in Pakistan, a component breakdown, expected monthly units, what it can run, and how to compare installer quotes.

5kW Solar System Price in Pakistan: 2026 Cost Guide

A 5kW system is the most common starting point for homes in Lahore and across Punjab, so it is no surprise that the 5kW solar system price in Pakistan is one of the most searched solar questions in the country. The honest answer is a range, not a single number, because the total depends on the system type, the inverter and panel brands, the battery (if any), your roof, and your grid paperwork. This guide breaks down approximate costs as of October 2026, what a 5kW system can realistically run, how much it produces, and how to compare quotes properly.

5kW Solar System Price in Pakistan: Approximate Ranges (October 2026)

The figures below are approximate installed ranges compiled from market price reports published between July and October 2026. Prices move with the dollar rate, stock levels and tax decisions, so treat them as a budgeting guide and confirm with a current quote.

System typeWhat is includedApprox. installed range
5kW on-gridPanels, on-grid inverter, structure, wiring, protection, installation~Rs 5.5 to 8 lakh
5kW hybrid with ~5kWh lithiumAbove, plus hybrid inverter and one 5kWh LiFePO4 battery~Rs 8 to 11 lakh
5kW hybrid with ~10kWh lithiumAbove, with a larger battery bank~Rs 10.5 to 13 lakh

Grid connection costs (application, bidirectional meter and related charges) are sometimes included in a quote and sometimes listed separately. Always ask.

Where the money goes

Here is a typical split for an on-grid 5kW system, again using approximate October 2026 component ranges:

ComponentTypical specificationApprox. cost
Solar panels9 x 585W A-grade N-type~Rs 2 to 2.4 lakh
Inverter5kW on-grid, or 6kW hybrid~Rs 1.2 to 2.2 lakh (on-grid); ~Rs 1.4 to 3 lakh (hybrid)
Mounting structureGalvanised steel, designed for your roof~Rs 40,000 to 65,000
Cables and protectionDC/AC cable, breakers, SPD, isolators, earthing~Rs 30,000 to 55,000
InstallationLabour, transport, commissioning~Rs 35,000 to 60,000
Battery (hybrid only)5kWh LiFePO4 (51.2V 100Ah)~Rs 1.8 to 3.1 lakh

What Changes the Price of a 5kW System

On-grid vs hybrid

This is the biggest single factor. An on-grid system has no battery and switches off during load shedding for safety. A hybrid system adds a battery and a hybrid inverter so essential loads keep running during outages and some daytime energy can be stored for the evening. The battery alone can add Rs 2 to 5 lakh or more. Our comparison of on-grid vs hybrid vs off-grid solar systems explains which fits which household.

Inverter brand

Premium on-grid string inverters such as Huawei usually cost more than value brands but offer high efficiency and strong monitoring apps. Hybrid inverters from GoodWe and Solis sit in the mid to upper range, while brands such as Itel and Infinix target budget hybrid buyers. Our Huawei vs GoodWe vs Solis comparison goes into detail.

Structure and roof

A raised structure (so you can use the roof underneath, or to clear water tanks and parapets) needs more steel and costs more. Roof height, access and cable distance to the distribution board also affect labour.

Single-phase or three-phase connection

Many 5 marla and 10 marla homes have a single-phase connection, which suits a single-phase 5 or 6kW inverter. If your home is three-phase, a three-phase inverter may be recommended, which can change the price.

How Much Electricity Does a 5kW System Produce?

In Punjab, a well-installed system typically produces somewhere around 3.5 to 4.5 units (kWh) per installed kW per day averaged over the year, with higher output in spring and early summer and lower output in winter, smog and cloudy weather. For a 5kW system, that suggests very roughly 18 to 22 units on an average day, or about 550 to 650 units a month. Actual output depends on orientation, shading, dust, temperature and panel quality, so use these figures as a rough guide only.

What a 5kW system can run

During good daylight, a 5kW system can typically run a home's fans, lights, refrigerator, water pump, and one or two inverter air conditioners, depending on their size and how many run at once. Running heavy loads together, such as several ACs plus an iron and a motor, can exceed what the system produces at that moment, and the shortfall comes from the grid (or the battery in a hybrid system).

Is a 5kW System the Right Size?

A 5kW system is often a good fit if your summer bills show roughly 400 to 700 units a month and most of your heavy use happens during the day. Since February 2026, new grid-connected systems fall under NEPRA's net billing rules, where exported units are credited at a much lower rate than the units you buy from the grid (reported at around Rs 8 to 11 per unit at the time the rules were introduced, compared with retail tariffs many households pay that are several times higher). That means it usually pays to size the system to your own use rather than oversize it to export. The net metering guide on our blog covers the policy background, and our free solar calculator gives a quick size estimate from your LESCO bill.

How to Compare 5kW Quotes

  • Check that each quote lists exact panel and inverter models, not just brand names.
  • Confirm the panel grade and that original warranty documents will be handed over.
  • Ask what structure is included: height, steel gauge and galvanising.
  • Check cable sizes and brands, and whether DC and AC protection is included.
  • Ask whether grid connection paperwork and meter costs are included.
  • For hybrid systems, check the battery's usable capacity, cycle rating and warranty.
  • Ask who handles after-sales service and what happens if the inverter develops a fault.

A cheaper quote that leaves out protection devices or uses thin cables is not really cheaper. Those are the parts that protect your home and the rest of the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 5kW solar system price in Pakistan in October 2026?

Based on market reports as of October 2026, a 5kW on-grid system was roughly Rs 5.5 to 8 lakh installed, and a 5kW hybrid system with a lithium battery roughly Rs 8 to 13 lakh depending on battery size and brands. Confirm with a current quote.

Will a 5kW system work during load shedding?

Only if it is a hybrid or off-grid system with a battery. A standard on-grid system shuts down when the grid goes off, as a safety requirement.

How many panels are in a 5kW system?

Usually 8 or 9 panels, depending on panel wattage. With 585W panels, nine panels give about 5.3kW.

Can I upgrade a 5kW system later?

Often yes, if the inverter has spare capacity and you have roof space. Note that under the current rules, changing the capacity of a grid-connected system can affect the terms of an existing agreement, so check before expanding.
